2022 ACGR quick recap

Making Medieval Memories !

We had a great time of reflecting on the times of when Kings and Queens ruled the day.  We looked at how we as caregivers can reflect upon our care for self and care for those whom we serve.  There was a time of community that offered companionship between caregivers. Each participant received effective reflection and words of affirmation that helped them to refresh their spirit for another year of caring from the heart.

If you missed this year’s Annual Care Giver Retreat make plans to meet us next year for a serious time of reflection, refreshing and renewal.  If you serve others with personal care you will need to be refilled with the love, compassion and vigor a loving caregiver hopes to give.

We will post some material related to the retreat later but thanks to all who could make it and get the idea that the task of caregiving is an important aspect of society and needs the support of the medical community.

Making Medieval Memories ?

Making Medieval Memories

You may have noticed that our 2022 retreat will be on a day that has been known to cause people to shutter, Friday the 13th.  The day has been feared by many as a tradition but why?   Friday 13, 1307 was the infamous date that the Knights of the Temple of Solomon (Templar Knights) were rounded up and put into prison all over France.

Medieval Terror

The Templar Knights were framed with charges of heresy, immoral practices and denying Christ after entering the Order.   About 2000 Knights in France alone were arrested and thrown into prison.  The story is so strange because the Templar Knights were the brave “warrior monks” who volunteered their skilled swords to protect believers who came to Jerusalem on pilgrimages.  No one expected these brave and honorable knights to be accused of charges against the church, but it happened.

Many of the charges against the Order of the Knights of the Temple of Solomon were attained by torture of many kinds, misleading’s of the authorities and other indecent techniques.  This all happened on that Friday the 13th of 1307.

           Are you suspicious?

This year’s retreat will focus on customs and actions of the Medieval Period and even some of the wisdom of the day that has been lost to history, or maybe just to public understanding.

Each presenter of the ACGR, will help you reflect on the ancient times to compare some of these practices and simply apply them to how care givers of modern life view our present world.   Presentations this year will be offered in the character of the Medieval Period in ways that are related to the environment of the times. (Just to make it fun)

      Get Dressed!

Now you can dress up in the spirit of the Medieval or what may also be known as the Renaissance Period.  Put on your knight’s armor or your Kingly or Queenly Robes or even the costume of a surf or jester to show off your desire to take time out to step back from the present into the past along with others who desire to reflect, restore and renew their spirits also.  Maybe you will dress as a 'Lady in Waiting' to dress in the garb of the day.  Monks, Mystics and Marvels are welcome.

Making Medieval Memories

          The Annual Care Giver Retreat

You are invited to attend the Annual Care Giver Retreat!

This year's theme is Making Medieval Memories...

As a caregiver you give a lot of your time to others to make sure their daily needs of comfort are provided.  But may we ask you?  Have you taken care of yourself lately?   Care giving, is one of the most stressful tasks that anyone can take on.  As a provider of care you are responsible for the wellbeing of those who would lack many needed services, services that may cause illness, pain, and stress.  That’s a big job.

Yet, in order to care for someone else, one must effectively take time to care for oneself. You must take time to Reflect, Restore and Recreate your own emotional vitality.   This is done by stepping away from a busy schedule and taking a breath of fresh air.

You are invited to attend ‘The Annual Care Giver Retreat’ among other caregivers just like yourself.  All attendees will be given one agenda.  That will be the task of Reflection, so that each may Restore his/her weary spirits and be involved in Recreating the attitude which has peace, purpose, and hope.

The Retreat will be held by Chaplain Horace Cutter, M.Div., BCPC.  Chaplain Cutter and the other spiritual care givers will lead the caregiver retreat in activities, reflective readings and times of solitude that will bring opportunity for margin.

It is Chaplain Cutter’s aim to schedule a time of Reflection which many nurses, social workers, hospice and healthcare workers do not get during the busy schedule they keep.  Come among the beautiful scenery at Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center to sooth your soul and quiet your spirit.

The Retreat will take place on Friday, May 13  from 8:00 am- 3:30pm, beginning with a mild breakfast with lunch included.  The attendance fee is $50.00 (call Chaplain Cutter (678-763-1871).

Participants will meet at Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center

The ACGR will be held on Friday 13th of May from 8am to 3:30pm on location at Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center, among the natural fragrance of flowers and lovely landscape.  The Annual Care Giver Retreat is specifically for Professional Care Givers and Professional Teachers.
